What Is Rose Quartz?

Rose quartz is a variety of quartz (silicon dioxide) that gets its pink-to-rose color from trace amounts of titanium, iron or manganese within the crystal structure. Most commercial rose quartz is mined in Brazil, Madagascar and South Africa.

Unlike amethyst, rose quartz rarely forms in well-defined crystal points — most of what you see in jewelry is cut and polished from larger massive chunks rather than individual terminated crystals.
